Over the past year a Working Group composed of elected officials and fire professionals have convened to draft and refine a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to increase coordination of Wildfire Prevention Activities in the East Bay Hills. The MOU, drafted by the law firm Hanson Bridgett, has been reviewed by the legal counsels of all jurisdictions represented in the Working Group.

The East Bay Wildfire Prevention Coordination Community Organizing Committee, led by the Oakland Firesafe Council, has been diligently pursuing a formal agreement to reduce wildfire hazards through regional coordination since 2019 and this proposed MOU represents a key milestone.
Coordination of this process has been supported by a consulting team from PlaceWorks, legal support from Hanson Bridgett, and financial contributions from numerous individuals and institutional donors/grants.
