The First Meeting of the Wildfire Prevention Coordinating Group (WPCG)
29 May, 2024
• Monday, 10:00 AM • in-person and online •
After three years of building support among community leaders and public officials in the East Bay Hills for a regionwide approach to wildfire prevention, efforts are paying off. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has now been ratified by Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, the cities of Berkeley, El Cerrito, Oakland and Richmond, and by the Rodeo-Hercules Fire District. It’s expected that two or three other cities and fire districts may approve it soon as well.
The first meeting of the Wildfire Prevention Coordinating Group (WPCG), which has been created by the MOU, will be at 10 AM on Monday, April 29 at the El Cerrito City Council Chambers, 10690 San Pablo Avenue (cross street Manila Avenue). The meeting will be on Zoom as well and the link is HERE.
While the meeting will be primarily organizational, it is open to the public and you are invited to attend as we take initial steps toward reducing the wildfire risk in our area.
The background on this effort is described HERE
