During this season of gratitude, Oakland Firesafe Council would like to show some appreciation for:
THREE NEW, VERY DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS

– Wendy, Christophe, and Maryanne – who ended up becoming three new, very dedicated board members.
OAKLAND FIREWISE COMMUNITIES

who are putting in the hard work to make their neighborhoods safer from wildfire. Currently there are 15 Firewise Recognized Sites in Oakland.
SUPPORT FROM LOCAL OFFICIALS

– such as Mayor Lee, Councilmember Ramachandran, Supervisor Bas, Supervisor Tam, and Asm. Wicks – along with their involvement in helping prepare communities for wildfire and other emergencies.
OAKLAND FIRE DEPARTMENT

and the Emergency Management Services Division (EMSD) for their service, partnership and support, from vegetation management to emergency preparedness.
A GRANT FROM PG&E

that allowed us to successfully facilitate and complete critical vegetation management and fire mitigation projects on twenty-three residential properties and three key City of Oakland properties.
FELLOW AND NEIGHBORING ORGS

such as East Bay Wildfire Coalition of Governments, Berkeley FireSafe Council, El Cerrito Fire Safe Council, and Diablo Firesafe Council who are working on the shared goal of wildfire safety.
